Conscience Of A Hacker

I couldn't help but continue thinking about how teachers and everyone else is categorising all the students depending on their performance in school. Like, this goes against what Dr. Preston are helping and encouraging us with in our AP English class, which is finding the main or multiple inspirations in our life. To aim for the thing we are the most passionate about. In this story, the teachers judge him to be exactly like every lazy student with the lines “Damn kids. They’re all alike.” instead of being curious and guiding him with his interest in being a hacker. The story also makes me laugh because it is so true. We all can't help but always judge a book by its cover.

How I Read

Well, my love and obsession for reading, mainly fantasy, started out with the Percy Jackson series during 5th Grade. I loved the movie so much, and decided to try out reading the books. However, my reading got tinted with a tad of darkness due to the way I deal with life, starting off with 13 Reasons Why during 6th Grade. My perspective in reading, writing, and speaking have changed and improved or evolved overtime. So now, my current favourites are fantasy with angst and a tad of romance. Having things to be fictional helps my mind explore and doesn't prevent it to go wild with the imaginations, which then gives me a wholesome experience as to what is going on in the book. I think the one thing you just have to know about my relationship with reading is that we're definitely the best of best friends.

Hack To School

• What is this class about? I believe that this class is about looking for our inspirations, keeping track of our improvements, and being our true selves online and offline. • What is the easiest part of this class? The easiest part about this class is when we have to communicate. I'm actually not that shy like the first day of school. • What is the hardest part of this class? The hardest part about this class, for me, is the journaling. I think it's due to the fact that there are times when I don't know how to answer the topic, I have a lot of thoughts, explaining, and at times I would get personal. • What have you learned so far? So far, I learned how to explain myself a lot better although it has only been about 3 weeks. • What is your Big Question? Why is it so important to be recognised?

Communication Strategies Of A Hacker

Question: How does “The Mentor’s” use of diction, syntax, and tone efficiently convey his message? Diction: - the choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing. The use of his diction was somewhat a style where it wasn’t verbose to show off that he’s smart or knows such vocabulary words, but he chose his words carefully. Which then caused the sentences to flow nicely to the point where even if we didn’t know what a word meant, we wouldn’t notice. Syntax: - the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language. As for the syntax, it is mainly noticed with the phrase that is repeatedly used, which is “damn kid”. To seeing that multiple times, we have come to the conclusion that it’s not just due to making the situation seem annoying to him, but it’s kind of a way to tell the readers that he’s comfortable to talk to them both as a teenager and as an adult. Tone:  - the general character or attitude of a lace, piece of writing, a sit...

Today I Asked A Big Question

Today, I asked a big question, and my question was, why is it so important to be recognised? I asked that question because of what Dr. Preston said about teachers not really caring about the students that answered the questions wrong, but mainly praised those who answered correctly, made me wonder. I wondered that the older I become, the more sensitive I am to answering incorrectly the questions many would ask me. I wanted to be recognised as the person with amazing thoughts and ideas, and not outcasted because I couldn't bring up that perfect idea someone else thought of that I couldn’t. I guess this would've answered the journal question from Thursday, but anyways... I know that while I am getting nearer to entering college, the bigger expectations I’d have to please and accomplish. I believe that those expectations are what makes it so important to be recognised because I feel that once someone congratulated me, or even a simple “good job”, (almost) all the heavy weight on...

I Am NOT Entitled To My Opinion

You are most definitely not, entitled to your opinion. It would be rather confusing because if one is entitled to their opinion, then no one would be able to stop people from thinking or saying whatever they want. As an example, it would be like me constantly saying that the Earth is flat, although its been proven to be round for years. The problem that is pointed out through the example is that being entitled to an or oneself's opinion is too oftentimes used to keep beliefs that should have already been abandoned. Therefore, you should not be entitled to your opinion because continuing to argue due to you supporting your opinion with more opinions can somewhat be disrespectful. Not to mention, annoying.

Now I Remember...

Whenever it comes to memorising anything, I am accustomed to two strategies I have picked up along the way. 1. I would read off a line or two, close my eyes, and picture the words written in a pitch black background. Once I feel that I memorise a bit of the words, my brain immediately takes it as a sign to add in a picture or scenario that would work well with a specific word, phrase, or line. For example, the first two lines of the poem: "Whenever Richard Cory went downtown, We people on the pavement looked at him." For such, it's pretty straightforward. I would imagine a scenario of Richard Cory walking in a somewhat old style, Solvang-like sidewalk. Everyone's heads turning to get a good look at him. 2. Using any melody that comes in mind, and using it to constantly sing the words with the specific tune until they are all fully memorised. Funny? Yes. This one is probably something everyone does while fooling around; however, don't rea...

A Second Helping of Socratic Seminar

What is "Right"? • owed to you • backed up by the law What do I mean by "Right" • something other people must honour 2 Reasons why " I'm entitled to my opinion" Doesn't work 1. It doesn't... - help us understand - find the truth It stops conversations 2. Not true because we are not entitled one's opinions • Limdic Area - Governs our emotions - The part of our brain that activates once we get in, an argument • Money is nothing, but a system of agreement Scenario: can you do ___ for a hand sanitizer? can you do ___ for a hundred dollar bill? The First Amendment • Freedom of speech AKA Here's what the congress doesn’t get to do "Logo Parenta" Example: The school have the right to enforce the Dress codes

A Socratic Seminar

• Socrates was an educator who asked questions in his own way he deems fit is helpful • To find the truth, responding negatively is a key (discrimination¿) • Why is love something all topics cover? - everyone can relate - it is interesting - love is everywhere - a trait that can distinguish us as humans - love is what we feel for anything or anyone • Can you love someone so much, yet still hurt them? - "yes" / "yeah" -  Is it still love if you cheat? - Is sexual desire considered love?

A Jikkō-sha ( + Richard Cory Poem )

In Asia, Philippines for example, school is considered the only way one can have an acceptable future. Therefore, us students would wake up at 4 in the morning, go to school at 5, take any kind of transportation as that would usually take 30 minutes due to traffic, and be seated 10-20 minutes before the teacher arrives. After school, we’d be busy for extracurricular activities, then prepare to go straight to night school, and usually get home at around 8PM. In our school system, there are sections, A to D. The smart ones would most likely be in A and vice versa. Also, there would be rankings for each grade, and those in Top 5 being the best. You would think that those who didn't get placed are the ones who have to be ashamed of themselves, but it was those in the 2nd to 5th who are bullied the most for not being as amazing as 1st. I was always either the 3rd or 5th. So, my mother would put me in multiple tutoring classes, mainly for contests like poem, singing , and quiz bee...

The Right to Your Opinion

I knew I made the right choice to take notes while reading this because otherwise, it would take, me multiple re-readings to somewhat understand what the blog is trying to state. I would recommend others to do take notes if what you’d have to read is pretty long because it helps, but you don’t have to because you have the right to have your own opinion on the matter. Hearing “I am entitled to my opinion” is not that offending because I also feel the same way where I know they won’t care if they’re wrong. To them, they are right, so let them be because they won’t change their opinions. As to why, when we have to provide evidence in an essay, we have to make sure they are facts and not opinions of others, and same goes with the news. It really isn’t the news if all we hear are the biased thoughts of the news reporters. I will end it by saying that we can say the law gives the people the right to life as one way, and the other way is that a person’s belief is what can either bring them d...

The Socratic Method

I do agree completely with what the Socrates said, “The life without criticism is meaningless.” Mainly because I feel that my life as a young one was filled with hard work that earned me so much compliments, that once I entered high school, I realised I was lacking in many aspects like having an official social life or dreams. I was judged to be so blunt and hardworking without a purpose, and my classmates or used to be friends, second all my opinions about life. Having to be asked negative questions, it did make me think about different situations and solutions towards many things. Therefore, I do believe that this method works as a way to find the truth because just reading this, I have been thinking as deeply as my desire to be top rat.

Sen’s Aesthetics

Being the youngest in my family, I grew up to be very spoiled by many of my relatives. My friends are my sisters' friends, AKA college students now, so do know that I'm treated like glass to be easily shattered. With that being said, I easily took interests in many things that would require to be bought, created, or experienced. For example, food trends. My friends, relatives, or family would help me find specific restaurants that creates many beautifully designed dishes. Especially food like ramen, boba, and ice cream. Another example are concerts or events. However, although I am able to spend my young moments with many different experiences, I am expected to be wise and have one heck of a bright future. As to why, starting my post with such a topic, I can then further add on with other pages from the childhood to the teen years of my life. Hoping to find an ending worthy to be an  interesting cliffhanger. My fourth concert, finally with someone. A dear friend of...
