How does Hawthorne communicate this theme? The message or theme that I noticed from this short story was that it was written to, perhaps, show the evils of the devil. To show that no matter how innocent one may seem, there is always evil within. Allusion: - “So saying, he threw it down at her feet, where, perhaps, it assumed life, being one of the rods, which its owner had formerly lent to Egyptian Magi.” This is from the biblical book of Exodus, and in that book, the Pharaoh’s court turned their staves into serpents to intimidate Moses. Moses and his brother Aaron also had staves capable of magic, but that power was believed to have come from God rather than the devil. - “...; and there was a world of meaning in this simple comment.” The scene with Goody Cloyse is very important because by showing Goody Cloyse to be a witch, Satan is turning Goodman Brown’s world upside down. The main point from “Young Goodman Brown” that would be somewhat interesting to have as a prompt would be having to point out the evils of the devil and how those evil can taint and lead people towards the wrong path. I believe that if we’re writing an essay or reflecting about a story instead of simply assigning us to do an essay, would be tough without a specific prompt because many can go off topic. At least, I know I would be confused and my essay would not make sense, but it’ll be related to “Young Goodman Brown” for sure.

I have a feeling that Hawthorne wrote the story to give a point that although there are many stories that may scare human beings for many reasons, our mind is the one that scares us the most, but we somewhat don’t point it out. Also, it may be a way to deliver a message to spouses that men, or women, can be loyal at first, but can easily waver and turn dark the next. How human beings are capable of sinning. 2. After reading the story, I agree because I do believe that her name does suit her. Brown’s “faith” was supposed to stay with Faith. 3. I have a feeling that the pink ribbons signifies the type of personality or characteristic Faith has because she is a young and happy person. Summary: Tahereh Mafi’s Defy Me Novel, the fifth book of the Shatter Me Series, started the book off by explaining the cliffhanger from the previous book. The leading female character, Juliette, also known as Ella, did not have her own point of view like the usual until later on. As well as the leading male character, Warner, also known as Aaron, for they have been captured during a chaos of mass murder caused by Juliette or the government. As they focus on solving what caused the chaos and where the leading characters are taken to, the rest of the characters are forced to evacuate. Before evacuating, they came to a conclusion and realised that they don’t know much about which reality is real. That is, therefore, one of the main points to remember as a reader read. Towards the end, the characters have found out what they called their “second chance at peace”, and Mafi uses Aaron’s birthday as a way to end the book on a happy note. - I have a feeling that Hawthorne wrote the story to give a point that although there are many stories that may scare human beings for many reasons, our mind is the one that scares us the most, but we somewhat don’t point it out. Also, it may be a way to deliver a message to spouses that men, or women, can be loyal at first, but can easily waver and turn dark the next. - I believe that Stephen King is so affected by the story because the story is cleverly written; so many symbols that does catch an interest of a reader. - This story points out the fact of faith being easily changed due to the lack of it, and to not trust so easily just because of any type of connections. It also points out that a human mind once goes crazy or out of control once one or more of our senses, mainly sight, is covered, and that is because our brain automatically heightens the senses left.

Even without any type of hacking, I do believe that others can see through my conversions because I have so much accounts to keep track of and am logged in multiple websites in multiple gadgets. Whether it’d be in my iPad, phone, laptop, computer, family members’ phones, friends’ phones, etc. All those people are able to access them freely and surf through my personal life. I am actually struggling lately to find the perfect channel to chat about or keep private matters without others misunderstanding or pestering me about them. Therefore, I have no answer because technically speaking, we have no privacy, and as much as I love technology, I greatly despise it.

At first, I was completely confused as to where this story would lead up to, as expected. However, animals have always caught my attention, and once I realised that the “different” animal the others would talk about is the turtle, my mind immediately created a story of its own. It was really interesting how the turtle is a “she” instead of a “he”, and as a woman, it caught my attention further more for I believe it was rare to see such. As the so called myth continued, the moral pops up as my smile expanded more because the ending made sense. I believe the moral was that despite being small, or being a woman, stereotypically weak/weaker than men, the she turtle saved the day. I loved this myth due to its cleverness.

I’m honestly just glad that my writing have been very honest and somewhat exciting to read, at least coming from the writer herself. During the first few blogs of mine, I believe it was my creativity and happiness that I loved from my blog. I loved how I was able to add pictures and videos in the blog, and having content that was sweet to read. However, if there are pros, then there are cons. The cons for my blog is the fact that I have been very lazy, and it kind of shows through the thoughts I have been posting up. My paragraphs seem to be lacking some flavour and I know I should improve in that, and find my inspirations for blogging again. Other than those, I should continue blogging because I can tell that I enjoy it at different times and does comfort me, for it would be a way for me to express the thoughts hidden deep in my head.

Despite having trouble at first, memorisation is something that we tend to have to be good at and is something that we don’t notice we use on a daily basis. The question of “How do I remember so many things, like a language?” and my confused self came up with the answer through the article. The answer was that, maybe I do have a few tricks up my mind that helped me remember words, names, formulas, etc. Having to read multiple types of tricks used to memorise, I would laugh a few times because I used some of those tricks. It was interesting because they somewhat gave a message that the more you learn new thing, the more training your brain gets with memorisation, and the more you improve in the skill.

So far, the story seems very relatable and intriguing because of the fact that the walk the guy, Young Goodman Brown on this case, is having illusions created by his brain. It’s late at night, and you would think that this story would be an innocent one because he is simply taking a walk. My attention was caught when dark words slowly popped up, like the word devil, and the description of the situations his mind was creating, due to being surrounded by darkness in the woods, are images my mind also started creating. Therefore, this story would be exciting to read at night, I believe, although I just started it.

My everyday life schedule have changed ever since Junior year started. Now, my usual is getting picked from school and go to either my cousin’s house to help him out with homework, or we would go someplace else besides home. I’m not entirely sure why, but I think it’s because during the day, my family loves to spend it with fun and socially. Then when I get home, usually around 6:30 or 7, I would give myself some time to lay down and rest, close my eyes for a while. At around 7:30, we go to church for certain activities depending on the day. Getting back home, I start all the homework I’m assigned. When I get lucky, I would have 7-8 hours of sleep, but lately, I’ve been getting 6-7 hours. Now for the weekends, my days are always spent with last minute plans, boredom, or practicing any skill and talent I have.

So far in my life, the biggest thing I am extremely proud of and would always want to brag about as long as I am asked are my experiences from poetry. I know I mentioned the times of when I would join the poem competitions and take lessons for it after school. Those days will forever be the highlight of my life because I felt smart, proud, amazing, and talented/skilled. Having to grow up in Asia and doing such things, then moving here only to find out that they don’t have those kind of school activities, I felt like I experienced something others would never be able to experience in their life.

Mindfulness - being selfish, yet kindhearted to ignore everything and everyone else to give yourself some time to think and accept your or one’s thoughts * our class started this calming strategy I definitely love and know I need everyday, and that is called “Mindfulness Time” - 60 seconds of quiet time to think, not think, and just calm your thoughts. * the rest of the class time, we went over our thoughts on the path towards success. - time management - future plans - opinions on future activities Today, or lately, I’ve been having the feeling of needing to do better. I was stressed and my mind was so worn out, but that “mindfulness time” we spent today helped me look over those bad days, find the anything positive about them, and just convinced myself that everything will be fine as long as I am calm and collected. This blog, specifically, is going to be me addressing my thoughts about how our AP English class works. For all my readers, if there are any of you, although this is for a class, it is somewhat a way for me to connect with myself. Throughout the entire time I started blogging, I feel like I understand myself more than I did before, and that’s because every time I would have time, I would stalk my blog. I would read a few of my new or old posts, and just feel myself smiling because of how cute I am. This is what the purpose of my blogging now. To further more understand myself, and have the feeling of being understood by someone.

Essay: (definition in French) - to try - to try to make yourself feel understood Montaigne - one of the most significant philosophers of the French Renaissance, known for popularising the essay as a literary genre. This experience of writing essays made me feel, what I think is less smarter than I know I am. Somewhat, when I know I understand the topic, I struggle to write 5 whole paragraphs to explain a simple topic. However, when I would think that I did very bad in an essay, my teachers would give me a higher score than I expected. Finding out the two definitions listed above for the word essay, it made feel that I won’t be judged for my style of writing in the class. Therefore, I also have a feeling that having that thought while writing an essay can be used to motivate me to write better and positively. I hope that makes sense because I can’t explain it any longer.

It’s like she just—imploded.” Since the first book I'll be reading for this class will be the 5th book in the series Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. So far, the book started off with a favourite character of almost all of the audience because he just has that personality and way of thinking that pleases everyone. Therefore, it definitely caught all of our attention. The story for the first 50 pages is dealing with a problem, which is a plot twist by the way, and the main characters' point of view didn't show up yet. Once again, makes me happy because the book is giving minor characters the chance to share the spotlight.
