Sen’s Relaxation
Ever since I started Junior year, the more I realised that having time for myself is extremely important, to stay sanely healthy! To stay positive and energetic, and to never let the sadness and sorrow take over your life.
I agree that in most cases, you may say, “But Sen, I have so much work and would have to do all of them to receive good grades/results.” or “I really want to go all out and join and participate in as much extracurricular activities my busy schedule can handle.” There are more possible reasons, and they may all be good reasons, but you have to always remember that no matter how important they are, once it affects your mental health, yourself should be priority.
No worries, I am also one of you, and is still adjusting into a better time management. I am actually not educated enough in many parts of my subjects, especially math, so I am required to work harder than others. While being part of choir, drama, church, and other hobbies. Not to mention, making the time for my social life to continue flourishing. However, I continue to be the most energetic and positive person in the room. How?
Well, here are some tips and strategies I use.
1. Eat/Drink Into Relaxation
- tea, hot chocolate, coffee, smoothie, etc.
- fruits
- trail mix, granola bars, gum, etc.
2. Save Some Alone Time
- close your eyes for a moment
- get your head below your heart
- connect with your breath
- stare out the window
- write down/reflect on your feelings
- dance or sing
- do puzzles
My Way: Wake up @ 4AM for complete silence and no loud family or electronics, Lights Out
- think/fantasise/imagine
- read
- listen to music (classical, nature, indie, soft, instrumentals, ballads, etc.)
- watch Chinese/Korean/Japanese dramas or childhood shows and movies
3. Treat Your Body To A Moment Of Rest
- massage your hands and feet
- roll a tennis ball under your feet
- take out your frustration on a stress ball
- splash cold water on your face
- take a shower
- massage your scalp
- stretch it out
- go for a stroll
